How it works
- Paste your keyword list, one keyword per line. Export it from Search Console, a keyword tool, or a competitor's ranking report.
- Click Cluster Keywords. The tool groups keywords that one page can serve and separates the ones that need their own page.
- Read the table: cluster name, primary keyword, secondary keywords, intent, page type and a suggested title.
- Build or update one page per row, starting at the top of the table.
Why cluster before writing
A site that publishes one page per keyword ends up with pages that compete with each other for the same query. Google picks one, the others sink, and the site's authority is split across near-duplicates. Clustering fixes that before it happens: one strong page per intent, with the secondary keywords covered in its sections.
Example
Twelve keywords about heat pumps come back as four clusters:
- Heat pump cost (commercial, guide): heat pump cost, heat pump installation cost, how much is a heat pump, heat pump price 2026.
- Heat pump vs furnace (commercial, comparison): heat pump vs furnace, heat pump or furnace for cold climate.
- How heat pumps work (informational, blog post): how does a heat pump work, heat pump in winter, heat pump efficiency.
- Heat pump installers near me (transactional, landing page): heat pump installers, heat pump installation denver, heat pump contractor.
The cost cluster leads because it sits closest to a purchase. The landing page cluster belongs on a service page.
Tips
- Include the long tail. Question keywords tell the tool which sections a page needs.
- Keep one topic per run. Mixing furnaces and water heaters produces clusters that are too broad.
- Check close calls against Google. If two clusters return the same top results, merge them.
- Link the cluster together. Each supporting page links to the primary page and back.
Frequently asked questions
What is keyword clustering?
Grouping keywords that share intent so one page targets the whole group. 'heat pump cost', 'heat pump installation price' and 'how much is a heat pump' want the same page. 'heat pump vs furnace' wants a different one.
How many keywords can I paste?
Up to about 200 per run works well. For larger lists, cluster by topic first (all the pricing keywords, then all the comparison keywords) and run each batch.
How does this differ from SERP-based clustering?
This tool groups by meaning and intent, which is fast and free. SERP-based clustering checks whether Google returns the same pages for two keywords, which is more accurate for close calls. The Koala AI SEO agent does the SERP check with live results when it plans your calendar.
What do I do with the clusters?
Each row is a page to create or improve. Give the page the primary keyword in the title and H1, cover the secondary keywords in the sections, and link the pages in a cluster to each other.
