Cuppa AI Alternative: Koala AI vs Cuppa AI

Cuppa AI is a hosted content platform starting at $99 a month billed annually, where you supply your own model keys. Koala AI covers the same ground for $49 on Professional with model costs included, Amazon affiliate articles and an MCP connection for your own assistant, currently in beta.

Prices and plan details here were checked against each vendor's own pages in September 2026, and they change. If something is out of date or wrong, email [email protected] and we will fix it.

Why people look for a Cuppa AI alternative

Cuppa AI and Koala AI are close in shape, which is why the comparison comes up. Both build a profile of your business from your site, both write long-form content from it, both grade drafts and publish to a CMS. The differences that send people looking are price and setup.

Cuppa AI's entry plan is $99 a month billed annually, which is $1,188 up front for one brand and one seat. The month-to-month rate is higher again. On top of that sits the bring-your-own-key model: unlimited words are included, and you create an account with a model provider, add a payment method, and carry the token spend yourself. The words cost nothing extra from Cuppa AI and something from OpenAI.

The third reason is coverage at the edges. Cuppa AI publishes widely, to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Sanity, Contentful, Airtable and Shopify, plus more than a dozen social accounts. Koala AI offers Amazon product research and affiliate article workflows for publishers who need product data in their content.

What Cuppa AI does well

  • Unlimited words with no token markup. Every plan includes unlimited words, chat and images, and you buy model access at provider prices. At high volume that is a genuinely strong position.
  • Brand voice from your own site. Its Brand DNA feature extracts identity, voice and tone from your website, and each brand on the higher plans carries its own.
  • A real toolset around the writing. Knowledge Base, Content Grader, Link Engine, SERP analysis with Perplexity research, an agentic chat and workbench, and a brand performance dashboard, all on the entry plan.
  • Agency features that go deep. Studio adds research agents for content refresh, FAQs and trends, plus client proposals as 90-day content plans. Scale adds premium agents for SERP clustering and gap finding, white-label, and a cross-site link network.
  • Integrations Koala AI does not have. Sanity and Contentful publishing, and an Ahrefs API connection for teams already paying for Ahrefs.

For an agency running ten client brands that wants white-label output and per-brand voice, Cuppa AI's Scale plan is a coherent product and priced sensibly per brand.

Where it stops

  • The entry price is $99 a month billed annually, and the commitment is a year.
  • Bring-your-own-key means a provider account, a card on file and a second invoice, before the first article.
  • No Amazon product data, so affiliate roundups are written without live prices, ratings or reviews.
  • Google Search Console appears in the integration list; Google Analytics does not, so engagement and conversion data sit outside the planning.
  • Their pricing page marks some features as in development or needing extra setup, so confirm anything you are buying for specifically.

What Koala AI adds

  • Half the price. Professional is $49 a month for all six products, and Starter is $25. Boost at $99 matches Cuppa AI's entry price and adds an uncapped agent and Content Calendar Autopilot.
  • Model costs included. Frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google are metered as credits inside the plan. There are no keys to create and no second bill to reconcile.
  • An agent that reads Search Console and Analytics. It works from clicks, impressions, positions and engagement together, then puts topics on a calendar you approve. Meet the SEO agent.
  • Amazon affiliate articles built from live product data and real reviews, for roundups and single-product reviews.
  • KoalaImages and KoalaMagnets. Image generation with saved brand styles and alt text, and embeddable custom GPT widgets that capture emails on your own site.
  • An MCP connection (beta). Claude, ChatGPT or your own agent can read the same brand context and SEO data directly. See the MCP.
  • Articles written for AI search. Sections lead with a direct answer, claims carry cited evidence, comparison keywords get side-by-side spec tables, and citation guidance helps the writer avoid linking to pages competing for your target keyword.
  • Internal links planned while it writes. Anchors are chosen during generation, so they read naturally, and every new brand gets a KoalaLinks domain automatically, so linking works from your first article.

Workflow side by side

Cuppa AI: connect your site so it can extract brand voice, create a model provider key and add billing, research a topic with SERP analysis, generate the article, grade it, publish to WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Sanity, Contentful, Airtable or Shopify.

Koala AI: import your business into Brand DNA, connect Search Console and Analytics, approve the agent's calendar, KoalaWriter drafts with Deep Research and internal links in place, KoalaLinks keeps older pages linked and adds schema, publish to your CMS in one click.

Pricing

Cuppa AI, billed annually: Solo $99 a month ($1,188 a year) for one brand and one seat; Studio $199 ($2,388) for three brands and three seats; Scale $369 ($4,428) for ten brands, ten seats and white-label; Enterprise $899 ($10,788) for up to thirty seats. Every plan carries a seven-day free trial, unlimited words, and bring-your-own-key model access. Month-to-month rates are higher; see their pricing page for those.

Koala AI's Professional plan is $49 a month for all six products, with 1,000 Platform Credits shared across KoalaChat, KoalaImages, KoalaLinks, KoalaMagnets, the agent and the API, plus 50 Brand DNA agent messages a month. Boost at $99 gives one brand uncapped agent use and adds Content Calendar Autopilot. Multi-brand tiers start at Growth. Lifetime deal holders get 30% off any subscription, applied at checkout.

Moving over

  1. Start the Koala AI trial while Cuppa AI is still running. No account has to close first.
  2. Import your business into Brand DNA from your website. If you tuned Cuppa AI's brand voice by hand, paste those notes in as a writing-style document.
  3. Connect Search Console and Analytics, which gives the agent both halves of the picture.
  4. Ask the agent for three articles and run one against a Cuppa AI draft on the same keyword.
  5. Add the KoalaLinks snippet so your existing archive links to whatever you publish next.

When to keep Cuppa AI

Keep Cuppa AI when you publish on Sanity or Contentful, when white-label output for ten client brands is the requirement, or when you already pay for Ahrefs and want that data inside the writing tool. The bring-your-own-key model also wins on arithmetic once monthly output climbs high enough, so if unlimited words at provider cost is the reason you bought it, that reason still holds.

Why teams choose Koala AI

  • Professional at $49 a month for the full platform, against Cuppa AI's $99 entry plan billed annually
  • Model costs are inside the plan, with no provider keys to create or top up
  • Google Analytics alongside Search Console, so engagement data shapes the plan
  • Amazon affiliate roundups built from live product data and real reviews
  • KoalaImages, KoalaMagnets, a library of free tools and an MCP connection (beta) in the same subscription
