Why people look for a Jasper alternative
Jasper is built for a marketing department. Its plans bundle campaign agents, a document editor called Canvas, an image suite and governance features, and the price is per seat. Teams whose main output is organic articles pay for a lot they never open. The brand context that makes Jasper's writing sound like you is capped on the Pro plan (two Brand Voices, five Knowledge assets and three Audiences) and only becomes unlimited on Business, which also carries admin controls and dedicated account management that a small SEO team does not need.
The other gap is data. Jasper's plan listing has no Search Console or Analytics connection, no keyword volumes and no SERP or backlink data. An SEO article written in Jasper is graded against your style guide, and nothing in the product knows whether the topic can rank.
What Jasper does well
- Brand governance. Brand Voice analysis, a style guide with an x-ray view in the editor, visual guidelines, and role-based permissions for who may change them.
- Breadth of marketing work. More than a hundred purpose-built marketing agents, plus a no-code builder (Jasper Studio) and Jasper Grid for scaled execution on the Business plan.
- Images for campaigns. Background replacement, upscaling, packshot compositing and text removal inside the same workspace.
- Enterprise footing. SOC 2, SSO, SCIM, 30 or more languages, and a dedicated customer success manager on Business.
If your team ships ads, email, social posts and landing pages across several brands and needs an audit trail on all of it, Jasper is a sound choice.
Where it stops
- No view of your own rankings. Topic selection happens outside the product.
- No built-in keyword, SERP or backlink data, so research is a separate subscription or a manual step.
- Publishing runs through integrations. The plan listing names Webflow, Google Docs, Slack, Zapier and Make, and a browser extension puts Jasper inside WordPress and Gmail; WordPress, Shopify and Ghost do not appear as one-click publishing targets.
- Per-seat pricing, with brand assets capped below the Business plan.
What Koala AI adds
- An SEO agent. It reads your Search Console and Analytics, finds keywords you can win, and puts them on a content calendar before anything is written. Meet the SEO agent.
- SEO data in the plan. Keyword volumes, difficulty, live SERPs, backlinks and competitor gaps, with no second subscription.
- Brand DNA. Import your business from your website or Google Maps once. Services, credentials, FAQs and voice live in a versioned knowledge base that KoalaWriter, the agent and KoalaChat all read.
- KoalaWriter with Deep Research. Full articles with sources, written in your voice from the brief the agent produced. Sections lead with a direct answer, claims carry cited evidence, and comparison keywords get side-by-side spec tables. The writer is instructed to avoid linking to pages competing for your target keyword. Review the final sources before publishing.
- Internal links planned while it writes. Anchors are chosen during generation, so they read naturally. Every new brand gets a KoalaLinks domain automatically, which means linking works from your first article.
- KoalaLinks for the archive. One snippet places links and entity schema across the pages you already have. More than 10 million links placed to date, and an A/B test on a site above 150,000 monthly pageviews saw a 7% lift in pageviews and 52% more visitors reading two or more pages.
- KoalaImages, KoalaChat and KoalaMagnets in the same subscription, plus the API on every paid plan.
- Publishing. One click to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or Ghost.
Workflow side by side
The two split at step one and never quite rejoin. Here is one published article through each.
Jasper, start to live:
- Pick a topic, usually from a keyword tool you pay for separately.
- Choose a template or a Canvas document and set your Brand Voice.
- Draft the article, guiding the outline as you go.
- Paste it into an SEO tool to check term coverage and adjust.
- Source or create images somewhere else.
- Add internal links by hand, checking your sitemap for targets.
- Copy into your CMS, fix the formatting, publish.
Koala AI, start to live:
- Approve a topic from the agent's calendar, or enter a keyword directly.
- Pick Write Article Now for tuned defaults, or Review Outline First to edit the structure in the outline editor.
- Choose a model and a brand preset, which applies tone, brand mention level and CTA settings in one click.
- Generate. Internal links go in during writing and images come from KoalaImages.
- Run Polish for a one-click readability pass, or grade the draft in the article editor.
- Publish straight to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or Ghost.
For volume, bulk generation runs many articles at once on shared settings, and Content Calendar Autopilot on Boost schedules a batch, writes each piece and publishes it on the date you set.
Pricing
Jasper sells Pro and Business plans per seat with a seven-day free trial. Pro includes the Canvas editor, agents for core marketing workflows and the capped brand assets above; Business adds complex-workflow agents, custom agents, unlimited brand assets, governance and account management. See their pricing page for the current per-seat figure.
Koala AI's Professional plan is $49 a month and covers all six products, with 1,000 Platform Credits shared across KoalaChat, KoalaImages, KoalaLinks, KoalaMagnets, the agent and the API, plus 50 Brand DNA agent messages a month. Boost at $99 gives one brand uncapped agent use and adds Content Calendar Autopilot. Multi-brand tiers start at Growth. The API carries no extra fee on paid plans, and lifetime deal holders get 30% off any subscription, applied at checkout.
Moving over
- Export your Jasper documents and keep the style guide rules.
- Import your business into Brand DNA from your website. Paste the style guide into the knowledge base as a writing-style document.
- Connect Search Console and Analytics.
- Ask the agent for the first three articles and publish one.
- Add the KoalaLinks snippet so the pages you already have start linking to the new article.
When to keep Jasper
Keep Jasper when the job is campaign production across channels and brands, with governance, SSO and SCIM as requirements, and SEO articles are a small share of the output. Running both also works: Jasper for campaign assets, Koala AI for the organic pipeline from keyword to published page.
