Koala AI now works inside the AI assistant you already use. The new Koala AI MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or any other MCP client to 62 SEO, research and writing tools, from live keyword volumes and backlink profiles to your own Search Console data and KoalaWriter itself. You sign in with your Koala AI account, tick what the assistant may reach, and from then on it calls the tools by itself. It launches today in beta for Professional plans and above; join from your Beta page.
No API key, no copy-pasting exports into a chat window, and 23 of the 62 tools cost nothing.
What your assistant can do with the Koala AI MCP
Once connected, your assistant can call any of these on its own. You ask the question; it picks the tools.
- Research any website. Ask how much a keyword is searched, which keywords a competitor ranks for, where two sites overlap, or who links to a domain. It can also run a live Google search, check Google Trends, fetch a page's text, and take a screenshot to see what a visitor sees.
- Work from your own numbers. It reads your Search Console and Google Analytics directly, so "which pages lost clicks last month" gets a real answer, with a comparison against the previous period and filters for device, country or a section of your site.
- Know your business. It can read your Brand DNA profile and knowledge base, so its advice and its writing use your services, your voice and your existing pages, and it can see what is already planned on your content calendar.
- See how AI search treats you. It can check whether Google's AI Overviews cite your pages, which of your pages are ready to be cited, and where competitors are cited instead.
- Write, edit and publish with KoalaWriter. Ask for an article and it creates one with your brand context, waits for it to finish, and hands back the text. It can edit an existing article, add it to the calendar, and generate images with KoalaImages.
- Look up products. Amazon search and product details, for affiliate roundups and comparisons.
The same data tools power Koala AI's own SEO agent. The difference is where you work. The agent lives in your Koala AI dashboard with your brand loaded and a content calendar attached. The MCP hands the same tools to whatever assistant you already have open.
One connection, one approval
The MCP is a remote server with OAuth, so setup is the same in every client: add the Koala AI server, your browser opens a sign-in page, and you approve the connection. The setup steps cover Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor, plus the URL for anything else that speaks MCP.
During approval you choose what the app can reach. Each capability is a separate tick box: reading your articles, your Brand DNA and calendar, your Google performance data, each family of research tools, and the write actions (creating and editing articles, generating images, managing scheduled articles, requesting indexing). A Read only preset clears the write actions in one click. If you manage several brands you also pick which ones this app may see, so a read-only research connection for a client and a full writing connection for your own site can sit side by side.
You can change any of this later. The account page lists every connected app with its permissions, and edits apply to the app's next request without reconnecting. Disconnecting revokes the app's access outright.
The 62 tools
The tools split into two families. The first covers anyone on the web:
- Keywords: search volume, related ideas, variations, Google autocomplete, keyword gaps between two domains, a domain's ranking keywords, and a coverage check against what your site already publishes.
- Competitors: competing domains, estimated top pages, traffic overview, historical traffic, and domain authority.
- Backlinks: summary, referring domains, individual links, anchor texts, and the link gap against sites that outrank you.
- Search results and trends: live Google SERPs, Google Trends, Pinterest trends.
- Pages and crawling: sitemaps, rendered page text, raw HTML, page analysis, screenshots, robots.txt rules for AI crawlers, YouTube search and captions.
- AI search visibility: AI Overview presence, citation comparisons, citation-readiness audits, AI search opportunities, brand mentions.
- Shopping: Amazon search and product details.
The second family is about your business, and almost all of it is free to call:
- Brand DNA: your brand list, profile, knowledge base, writer presets, and the content calendar with tools to schedule, update and remove planned articles.
- Google data: Search Console performance, top queries and pages, query and page drill-downs, indexing status, and Google Analytics top pages, traffic sources, audience overview and page performance. You can also request indexing for a URL.
- KoalaWriter: create an article, check its status, read the finished content, list recent articles, and edit an article.
- KoalaImages and your account usage.
The full list with per-tool pricing is on the MCP page.
Guided research prompts
Clients that support MCP prompts get two workflows built from these tools. research_topic assesses a topic: volume, who ranks, what the SERP looks like, and whether you already cover it. plan_content plans your next articles from your brand, your Search Console data and the keyword tools, and ends with a list you can schedule. Loading a prompt is free; the tools it calls carry their usual costs.
What it costs
During the beta the MCP is included with Professional plans and above, with no separate fee, and it spends the same platform credits as the rest of the product. There is no daily research cap. Free accounts can browse the tool list but cannot connect an app.
- Reading your Brand DNA, calendar, Google data, article status and finished articles: free.
- Raw HTML, robots.txt checks, YouTube search, Pinterest trends: 0.1 credits per call.
- Rendered pages, sitemaps, screenshots, autocomplete, captions: 0.25 credits.
- A live Google search: 0.5 credits.
- Most keyword, competitor, trends, page analysis and AI Overview lookups: 1 credit. Keyword ideas and variations bill 1 credit per seed keyword.
- Article edits: 1 credit. Backlink lookups: 2 credits. Keyword volume, coverage checks and AI search opportunities: 3 credits. Historical traffic: 4 credits.
Writing an article through the MCP uses your KoalaWriter word allowance, the same as writing in the app. Failed lookups cost nothing. The complete rate card and a cost calculator are on the pricing page.
Three things to ask it
- "Research keyword opportunities for example.com in the UK. Compare its rankings with its top three competitors and tell me which topics it already covers."
- "Pull my Search Console queries for the last 28 days, compare them with the 28 days before, and list the pages that lost the most clicks."
- "Write an article for my brand on your topic with KoalaWriter, wait for it to finish, and give me the link to review."
The assistant passes the domain, market and brand explicitly on each call, so a question about a client's site never reads your own brand's data by accident.
Get started
Open the Koala AI MCP page, pick your client, and follow the steps. Connecting takes about a minute on a Professional plan or higher once you have joined the beta.
