Brand DNA Version History: Roll Back Any Edit

Brand DNA is the foundation of every Koala AI product. Losing it (or accidentally overwriting it with a bad edit) would be expensive. Version history makes that impossible.

What's versioned

• Knowledge base documents: every edit to any document creates a snapshot.
• Growth goals: JSONB array, snapshotted on each change.
• Agent memory: the persistent memory the agent reads and writes.

All snapshots live in the brand_content_history table, scoped per brand.

How it works

1. You (or the agent) edit a document.
2. Before the new version is committed, the previous content is saved as a snapshot with a timestamp.
3. The new version becomes current.
4. The old snapshot is available to roll back to at any point.

This happens automatically on every save. No "create snapshot" button, no manual versioning.

Why this matters more for AI-edited content

If the agent updates your memory or refines a knowledge base document, you might not realize what changed until you read your content later. With version history, every agent edit creates a snapshot you can compare against the version before the edit. The agent can't quietly drift your knowledge base over time without leaving a trail.

Rolling back

Open the Brand DNA editor, find the document or memory you want to revert, click "version history", and you'll see a list of snapshots with timestamps. Pick one, preview the content, and restore.

What doesn't get versioned

• Brand record fields like name, domain, business type. These are simple field edits without snapshots.
• Integration tokens (GSC, GA refresh tokens). Security-sensitive, no history.
• Chat history. Agent chats are immutable by message; you can't "edit history."

How long are snapshots kept

Indefinitely. There's no version cap and no automatic purge. Your Brand DNA history is yours as long as your account is active.
